Why Test For Mold?
The purpose of a mold inspection is to determine the presence of mold spores in an indoor environment. A visual and moisture inspection is done to locate possible trouble areas using state-of-the-art moisture testing and our extensive knowledge of indoor air quality issues. Our mold inspection will determine what kind of mold species were found, the amounts found in the air or a surface if mold is visible and if the amount of spores found are normal for that environment or elevated.
Once the inspection is complete, Healthy Home Environmental Services, LLC reviews the preliminary findings with our clients, and only then with approval we will perform the appropriate biological collection protocol. We are an investigative and testing firm only. We do not do mold remediation. When remediation is complete, Healthy Home Environmental Services, LLC will re-test the treated areas and analyze the data to make sure the remediation process is successful.
How Can Someone Be Exposed To Mold?
- Hand-to-mouth exposure
- Breathing in spores from the air
- Skin contact from handling an item with mold growing on it
Can Mold Cause Health Problems?
Mold has the potential to cause health problems; however, everyone is affected differently. Infants, children, the elderly, immune compromised individuals, pregnant women and individuals with existing respiratory conditions are at higher risk. Some mold can produce allergens, irritants and in some cases, potentially toxic chemical substances known as mycotoxins. People who are sensitive to mycotoxins can become ill.
With exposure, even in small amounts, mold may cause:
- Fatigue
- Skin rashes
- Digestive problems
- Frequent headaches
- Respiratory problems
- Chronic aches and pains
- Sinus infections or congestion
- Mood swings, anxiety, depression
- Trouble concentrating, memory lapses, confusion
- Itching or irritation of the nose, eyes, throat or skin
It is impossible to completely eliminate all mold and mold spores indoors. Mold will always be found floating in the air and in house dust. Indoor mold growth can be prevented by controlling water and moisture indoors. Control the moisture to control the mold. Minimize your exposure to mold spores in the indoor environment.

Professional Mold Inspection Services Include:
Limited Mold Sampling
The purpose of Limited Mold Sampling is to detect the presence of mold contamination in client defined areas. This service provides a fast, economical method to determine if and what types of molds are in that defined area. A minimum of two samples is required. The limitation of the Limited Mold Sampling service is that other sources of mold may be present in other areas.
Mold Screen/Survey Inspection
This level of Inspection service utilizes a visual assessment of the entire home in readily accessible areas for mold and/or conditions that may indicate the presence of mold. If "red flags" are found, the client is advised and provided the opportunity for sampling. The Mold Screen Inspection is the most popular inspection service in real estate transactions.
Mold Clearance Testing
Clearance Testing is designed to determine the success of remediation efforts. Clearance Testing is provided for those remediated areas within established containment zones.
Post Cleaning Testing
This type of testing is also designed to determine the success of remediation efforts. The difference between Clearance Testing and Post-Cleaning Testing is NO containment zones were or are in place.
